The release date is actually Wednesday, but I’m a fucking madman right now. I just tested the whole payments thing–like, to make sure you could use a credit card OR a Paypal account, and to ensure they sent you back to this site after, and actually give you the books–and it works. It works.
I just bought my own book. From my website. That’s so funny.
The book’s live here on the site and should be going live on the Amazon.everywhere sites over the next few hours. I’ll upload everywhere else in the morning, so if you’re buying from Kobo, iBooks, or Barnes and Noble, it’ll happen in the next day or two. (ARE and Smashwords go up immediately, so they’ll be up tomorrow evening. Google Play is a bleedin’ mystery in most ways, but my books go live pretty quickly over there, too.) Folks minded to wait for the $0.99 Smashwords coupon will need to wait until the email goes out Thursday.
I just bought my own book. I just can’t stop giggling about that for some reason.
If you’d like to buy Surrender the Past, AKA the Nick and Bernie book (and if you read The New Born Year and went, “I need to know MORE!”, you should definitely read this book), you can do that on the book page: https://krisripper.com/books/surrender-the-past/
I’m a bookseller now! And a published author! Lifetime goals: achieved.
Note: the rest of the books will start going up as well pretty soon here. If you’ve got requests (I’m not sure why you would, but just in case), throw them in the comments! I’m also open to other wishlist ideas. I’ve got The Library: Collected Stories and Scenes from the Scientific Method Universe already brewing, hopefully for an April release. Do you want The Complete Home Series Collection in one book? (After the Maizy book comes out, natch.) Do you want sequential releases of the Will-and-the-boyfriends arc, five books a set or something? Do you just want me to stop yammering on? Okay, okay.
It’s just, I just bought my book. From myself. Directly. I don’t know why the hell I find this so hilarious, but I really, really do.
Awesome, drool-worthy bookstore image is Book Sale by Phil Roeder on Flickr.
So glad I don’t have anything to do in the morning. Thank you for the late night reading!!!
I was just going to message you and ask if I should buy from amazon.ca where it’s available early or wait for you to have it up here 🙂 Finding my wallet now. (I love book releases on my day off!)
Ok, now I feel a bit hypocritical. I did just buy the book, but I went though amazon. A couple of reasons: I have a weird thing where I don’t really like paypal (I could not tell you why – please notice my use of the word weird), and (for all my talk of wanting to buy from you directly) it was actually cheaper on amazon due to US exchange rate (see: hypocritical).
How about I promise to write a review?
dinaw Ah, well, jeez. I mean, don’t you technically get it–cough cough–free for beta reading?
Yeah, I don’t have control over international prices here the way I do at most of the seller sites, so of course you should buy it wherever it’s cheapest! And to answer the question I forgot to answer, you can leave a review on Amazon for anything, but reviews from “verified purchases” do hold a bit more weight, as far as I can tell.
Of course I’d love a review, but you don’t owe me one! You already paid!
(What do we think about these comments? This is my first with the new system. I think I like it. I’m not sure how it is on your side.)
KrisRipper dinaw Hmm, I commented on this an hour or so ago and it didn’t post?
Originally I said that the new comments seemed ok, though any time you have to create a new account for something it’s a bit of a hassle (just one more password to remember if I comment at work) – but the lost comment is making me question the new system (though it is just as likely that I did something on my end).
I consider the early reading to be a gift – so I’m happy to buy the books when they come out. You’re worth it! (But apparently not worth paying US dollars – there’s my innate frugality coming out 😉 )
p.s. fairy tales?
I
was wondering what format I would receive if I buy here. I can’t find
any information about this.
Oh, good note! I’ll have to figure out where best I can toss that up. Here on the site I offer PDF, MOBI, and EPUB. Thanks for pointing out a slight gap in the information available!
