Origin Stories: Close to Home

It's all about Stan and Jean. Where the hell did those two come from and how did they so seamlessly take over this story? I think of Close to Home as the only straight story I've published (at the time of this writing, in January 2015, though I've got Maizy's HEA and the Ally book coming up in the next year, which will both be "straight" stories). When in fact, CTH has a hell of a lot of Maizy and Jean for a straight book. The central romance to CTH is Stan and Jean, and fuck, I love those guys. They are

Teddy assumed that at some point in the days leading up to the wedding…D would freak out. He wasn’t the only one who assumed that. “Hey, don’t worry, Teddy, I won’t let D leave you at the altar,” Maizy called, dragging D to her final fitting (D glowered murderously over

Happy Release Day!!!

I fucking love today. I don't know why, exactly. Part of it's because Close to Home is out, and that's fun. Also, it's fall. I fucking love fall, y'all. I love the wind and the chill and the leaves on the ground. I love raking leaves, I love the grass getting just slightly greener because the sun doesn't burn up all the soil within five seconds of the sprinklers shutting off. I love writing in the fall. I live in California, and folks with more extreme weather patterns mock us for our lack of drama, but fall is dramatic everywhere. (So is

She followed his gaze, but the guy looked like he’d just walked off the shoot of the Lumberjacks of the Great White North calendar. “Ew, Roar. One of the nearest moms glanced up at

Podcast #11: Close to Home is DONE

[ETA: Evidently this bad boy has spoilers. Spoilers, spoilers, spoilers, but I have no idea for what, cause I'm not listening to it again. But consider yourselves warned! It's also very fucking goofy. Be warned about that, too.] A little unedited bit of me being giddy as hell. I never, ever feel this way at the end of a book. I'm marking this moment for posterity. httpv://youtu.be/AGytR3pEzPo

The End: Home Free

A quick note to say...the first draft of Home Free is complete. I'm exhausted, my wrists are sore, and I'm not entirely certain I ended it in the right place. Oh, okay, if I'm being honest--I'm never sure about my happy endings. I have no faith in them at all. But I'll give this a good thorough revision next week or the week after, then send it out for beta. (Are YOU interested in beta reading a romance novel with a trans main character and a character with a history of brutal sexual violence? No, there aren't any fucking flashbacks, and no,
